Safdar Hashmi Marg is named after Safdar Hashmi. Hashmi was a communist playwright, known for his work in street theatre. He was a founding member of Jana Natya Manch. Hashmi was murdered by political hoodlums, in 1989 in Jhandapur, while performing a street play, Halla Bol. Safdar Hashmi Marg is located near the Mandi House metro station and houses the Sri Ram Centre for Performing Arts.
